Mr. Jones was a resident of Lake Providence. He was a former town marshal of Winnfield and manager of the town water works for several years.

He was born to the union of William Tunley Jones and Martha Ann Caroline McCarty, who married in Jasper Co., MS on November 9, 1851. He married Mary Leona Nash in Winn Parish on October 20, 1892.

He was survived by his wife, Leona Jones of Lake Providence; two daughters, Mable Bates of Baton Rouge and Rosa Audra Sasser of Nixon, TX; five sons, Reginald Jones of New Orleans, Lee Jones and Keith Jones, both of El Dorado, AR, Norwood Jones of Baton Rouge and Clifford Jones of Lake Providence; one step-daughter, Hilton Gregg of Atlanta, GA; his mother, Caroline McCarty Jones of Montgomery; five sisters, Martha Jane Jordan and Josephine "Josie" Gaar, both of Hudson, Rodella "Della" Hatten of Oak Grove, Icedore "Icy" Dickerson and Rosa Jones, both of Montgomery; and four brothers, Theodore L. Jones of Dodson, Leland Dewitt "Lee" Jones of Montgomery, William Wesley Jones of Dry Prong and Wiley Randolph Jones of Colfax.
