RALPH LEE STINE
Ralph Lee Stine, 81, Handy Pike, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 28, 1921 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Orville and Sadie Dean Stine. He was the widower of Gladys Buckley Stine.
He served with the Kentucky National Guard Unit of Harrodsburg, Company D, 192nd Tank Battalion, was inducted into active duty in the U.S. Army during WW II, was a prisoner of war and received three Bronze Stars.
He was honored in August, 1986, by the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce for his military service and received the Pioneer of Harrodsburg Award. He was a retired Kentucky Utilities employee, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church, VFW, DAV and American Legion.
Survivors include: two sons: Donnie (Betty) Montgomery and Rodney Stine, both of Burgin; five brothers: Sam Stine, Burgin, Buddy Edmonson, Lawrenceburg, Gene Edmonson, Mercer County, Marion Edmonson, Versailles; one sister: Minnie Lou Wilson, Danville, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Stine, and two brothers, Clifton and Wayne Stine.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2002 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Jeannette Lucas and Guilford Waggener officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Rites.
Pallbearers were Jeff Montgomery, Scott Shelton, Brad Murray, Joshua Stine, Andrew Stine, Tim Stine, Eric Stine and Joe Sanders.
