Born to Lt. Henry Harrison Jeter and Sara Jane Rankin Jeter, Earl was the 7th of 9 children. He died from an appendicitis attack at the age of 19 while living with his parents at 1142 5th St, N.E., Washington, D.C. He was buried on September 30, 1904 at Congressional Cemetery in Washington D.C. but was later moved to Glenwood Cemetery. Neither cemetery has any record of him being moved and Congressional still has him listed as being buried there.

Thursday, September 29, 1904

Jeter- On Wednesday, September 28, 1904 at 4:30 pm Earl M., Son of H. H. and Sarah Jeter, aged nineteen years, eight months and twelve days. Funeral from the family residence, 1142 Fifth Street northeast Friday, September 30 friends are invited to attend. Interment private. Arcola Ind. and Orleans, Ind., papers please copy.

Earl is buried in the plot of his father, Lt. Henry Harrison Jeter and shares the headstone with his father, mother, Sara Jane Rankin, sister, Clara L. Jeter niece, June Dunnington, and sister Frances Marion Jeter Dunnington.


He is also the brother of, Martha Ethel Jeter Kraft, Mary Rankin Jeter Dunnington, William Elbert Jeter, Alice Russell Jeter (died in Arcola, Illinois at 2 years of age), Harriet Edith Jeter Kniver, Infant Son Jeter, died in Arcola, Illinois.
