Helen (Vrba) Newman, 91, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at her residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Michael Ajewole as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martins Cemetery.

Helen was born in Leroy, Texas, to the late Anton R. and Rosalie (Blahuta) Vrba. She was a 1942 graduate of West High School. On January 15, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Carroll Newman. Helen worked for 1 Hour Martinizing in Waco for 25 years before retiring in 1984. She was also a homemaker and worked for McCrory's. Helen enjoyed dancing, church activities, and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll on March 15, 1984; a son, Michael Wayne Newman; brothers: August Vrba, Tony Vrba, Eugene Vrba, Alphonse Vrba, Raymond Vrba, and Eddie Vrba; and sisters, Josephine Dvoracek and Della Burt.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Eldridge, of Waco; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Snokhous; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
