Thomas J. Lord, Jr., 90, of Aston died May 8, 2015 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center from complications after heart surgery. Born in Mahanoy City, son of the late Thomas J. and Edith Jones Lord, he lived in Chester prior to moving to Aston in 1957.
Tom was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School, class of 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as a Staff Sergeant, (Company E - 263rd Infantry Regiment - 66 Division). He was a burner at Phoenix Steel, in Claymont, DE, where he retired after 36 years of service, and was currently employed as a crossing guard by the Aston Township Police Department at the intersection of Dutton Mill Rd. and Pancoast Ave. for the past 28 years. Tom was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church and enjoyed country music, feeding the wild birds, gardening, animals, hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching the Phillies, spending time at Broadkill Beach, DE renovating his daughters' cottages and with his beloved cat, KitKat. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
He was husband of the late Laura J. Helfand Lord who died in 1998 after 49 years of marriage, father of the late Thomas J. Lord, III and Scott Charles Lord, brother of the late Lorraine Comanitsky, Ruth Deesing, James, Marvin, Leon and Elizabeth Lord.
Survived by daughters Laura Lynn Taylor of Upper Chichester and Candy H. Mills of Aston, son-in-laws Frank Taylor and Ted Mills, grandchildren Charles Taylor (Megan), Thomas J. Lord, IV, Ricky Lord, Timothy Taylor (Corrinne) and Amy Mills (Adam) and great-grandchildren Mikala Lord, Mackenzie, Gabrielle and Ian Taylor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
