Rowena Cook Tingey was born to Henry H. and Genett Calder Cook on March 9, 1890 at Garden City, Rich, Utah. She was reared and educated in Woodruff, LDS Business College and Keaster Sewing School in Salt Lake City.

She was an ardent church worker, served as secretary of Sunday School for 22 years; was president of YWMIA, on the Woodruff Stake Sunday School board; first counselor of Relief Society, member of the Genealogical Committee, held a certificate as a researcher, was a member of the Woodruff and Ogden 28th ward and Kaysville 2nd ward choirs, was first treasurer of Woodruff City coporation and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

On May 21, 1913, she was married to Thomas Josiah (Jody) Tingey in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union was born six children, Willard, Lorin (died at 13 months), Mavis, Genett, Roka Jean and Grant.

She lived in Woodruff until moved to Ogden in 1941. Jody and Rowena celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary May 21, 1963.

Rowena stood steadfast by Jody's side supporting him in all endeavors both church and civic. She spent many years clerking in the store and managed the rental units in Kaysville.

She suffered a stroke and passed away in Ogden at the home of a daughter, Roka Raymond, June 27, 1967. She was buried in the Woodruff City Cemetery.
