Life's Work/Service/Interests: She met Gordon Duke, an active sailor in the United States Navy, during WWII. While he was serving his country she served a mission in the Northern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1940 to 1941. In 1945, she married Gordon Duke in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a long-standing resident of Provo, Utah, where she worked as a beautician for 60 years. She loved her family, curly hair, the 4th of July, her country, BYU sports, and watching her children play ball. On October 12, 2013, Mavis "Mae" Tingey Duke passed away from natural causes. She was 93 years old.
Survived By: Her children: Melvin T. (Janet), Centerville; Loren T. (Heidi), Riverton; Gordon T., Provo; Denise Puhlmann (Martin), AZ, and Kelly T. (Emma), Provo; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister, Roka J. Raymond of Ogden; and brother, Grant Tingey of Lake Shore; and several nieces and nephews.
