WINNFIELD — Services for Alon L. Shirley will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Southern with the Revs. Lester Carpenter and Wallace Ingles officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery.

Shirley, 85, of Winnfield died Thursday, May 8, 1997, in Winn Parish Medical Center.

He was a native of Winnfield and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was retired after 35 years of service with the Department of Health and the State of Louisiana as a sanitation officer.

Survivors include three daughters, Jewel Maurine Johns of Ruston, and Barbara Shelton and Linda McCarty, both of Winnfield; one sister, Mildred Thornton of Natchitoches; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home.
