Henry A. Keck was born in Carlos Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, January 5, 1898, the son of Louis and Emma (Schwartfeger) Keck. When Henry was four years old the family moved to Alexandria for two years and then to Hudson Township where they farmed until 1911. At that time the family returned to Alexandria and the Kecks had made this their home since. On February 5, 1924, Henry was united in marriage to Evanell Lindstrom in Alexandria and they became members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Mr. Keck was involved in the oil business in Alexandria beginning in 1922 and retiring in 1965, a period of 43 years. He also served as Mayor of Alexandria from 1941-1943 and served on the City Council. Henry was also a director and appraiser for the Alexandria Federal Savings and Loan for sixteen years.
He died at the Douglas County Hospital, May 30, 1986, at the age of 88 years.
Henry is survived by wife: Evanell Keck of Alexandria; daughter: Majel (Mrs. Boyd) Berg of Minneapolis; son: Henry A. Keck, Jr., of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 2, 1986 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. Bruce Kott officiating. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Douglas Berg, Jeffrey Berg, Richard Berg, John Keck, Charles Keck, and Todd Whiting. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
