David lost his life in an unfortunate shooting accident at his home. He was seven yrs old. He is buried beside his cousin Estella Cavazos.

From the Corpus Christi Caller-Times (Jan. 1, 1964):

"David Arriaga, 7, of 1702-1/2 Main, shot himself to death about 4:34 p.m. yesterday as he and two brothers played with a pistol in their home.

"Judge W.A. Gilleland ruled the boy died from accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Manuel Garza, homicide detective, said the boy and his two brothers, Rudy, 12, and Danny, 8, were apparently alone in the house and were playing with their father's .38 caliber pistol.

"Garza said they had learned to back the revolver's cylinder back to an empty chamber and fire it. The two brothers told him David Arriaga clicked the gun at one brother and then pointed it just below his left eye and fired.

"Garza said the brothers ran to a neighbor's house and the neighbor called police."

Survived by parents, Fernando & Antonia Arriaga; two brothers, Rudy & Daniel Arriaga. All of Corpus Christi, TX.
