Abbie Edith Calhoun, 88 and longtime Kinta resident passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Stigler. She was born on September 22, 1926 in the gap between Blue Mountain and Panther Mountain near Quinton, to Elmer and Alice (Pelkey) Ford. She married William Franklin Calhoun on September 25, 1943 and together they raised two sons, James and John. Abbie loved crocheting, quilting, sewing, canning, and working in her yard and flower beds. She was a member of the International Church of God. Abbie always had a positive and upbeat attitude even when the going got tough. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William Calhoun; one son John Calhoun, her parents, Elmer and Alice Ford; three brothers, Adam Ford, Abel Ford, John D. Ford; six sisters, Grace Spradley, Alta Shaffer, Avie Shaffer, Robbie Martin, Aileen Ford, an infant sister. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Quinton Cemetery with Reverend Luther Brown officiating.
