KK spent her childhood in Oklahoma until moving with her family to the Southeast New Mexico area eventually settling in Hagerman about 1946. After over 55 years absence from the area, Katheryn is still thought of fondly by many who remember her working for years at the dry cleaners in Hagerman. She made lifelong friends everywhere she went and was able to talk about almost any subject with anyone she met. When she left New Mexico Katheryn lived in Texas where she retired from 20 years service at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Katheryn was the family caregiver of comfort, physical help and advice to her siblings when needed. She was always willing to help at a moment's notice when anyone needed her. She was our "Rock of Ages." There are many special memories where she put her life on hold to help others.
Katheryn's love of gardening, drawing, art and sewing, landscapes and trees stayed with her throughout her life. She loved a healthy food crop, harvesting and the preparation and sharing of the bounty. She also had a great desire for education and knowledge and was continually reading and studying various subjects and exploring the spiritual meanings of the Bible. She wishes to be remembered as living in God's name, what joys she created, the love and happiness shared, and how she appreciated all the gifts of life on earth.
Rejoice as her life is now renewed. Services were held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Garland Holiness Church of God, Garland, Texas 75044
Katheryn's cremation remains were buried next to her much loved grandson, Russell Don Leak.
