John Orsamus Baker, age 95, of Eau Claire, Wis., died February 28, 1996, at Luther Hospital after suddenly becoming seriously ill. He was born in Loyal, Wisconsin, to Clarence Elmer & Martha Prudence (DePas) Baker on January 3, 1901. As a baby his parents moved from Loyal to Richfield, Wisconsin where he grew up on his Parents Homestead & as most children back then worked hard on the family farm.

As a young man in his early 20's he moved to the Eau Claire area & began working as a hired hand on Hatch's Dairy & is listed on the 1930 census as a hired man & still single. That same year he married Mary Gertrude Detrich (born Frieda Daisy (Adams was her stepfathers surname) more info on her memorial) on 9 May 1930. In about 1931 they moved to the Pepin area before their Son Cluer Johnny Baker was born on 9 May 1932. Later they moved to Milton area before their daughter Carol Marie Baker was born on 21 June 1934. When both their children were small they moved to Louisville, Kentucky where they raised their children & lived for many years until the death of his wife in 1977.

After she passed he sold the home & moved to live with his children. Often splitting his time with his daughter & her family in Wisconsin; & his his Son & daughter in law in California up until he was in his late 80's early 90's when he could no longer travel long distances.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 year, Mary, both of his parents, brother Josiah Elmer Francios Baker, sister Fannie Albina Theresa Baker, brother Albert Alphaeus Baker, twin sister & brother Mary Bennish Baker & Benjamine F Baker, sister Ellen May Baker & brother Eugene Baker.

He is survived by his sister Martha Adelle Aimee Baker, brother Clarence Rufus Baker, sister Mary Zina Elizabeth Baker, & brother Philo S Baker; his son Cluer Johnny Baker, & wife Goldie Marie (Baker) Lane Baker; his daughter Carol Marie Baker, & husband Fred Everett Buchholz; his four grandchildren David Lynn Buchholz, & his Ex-Wife Cecilia, their two children John Edmund, & Lisa Marie Buchholz; Ivan Everett Buchholz, & his Ex-Wife Patti, their two children Crystal Jean & Sandi Buchholz; Brian Curtis Buchholz, & his Wife Nadean Kay; Kathie Linette Buchholz (aka Deborah Lynnette Baker), & her Ex-husband Richard Joseph Paulus, their daughter Stephanie Marion Paulus (Danke last name changed after she was adopted by a relative at age 5), & Kathie's Ex-boyfriend Robert Randolph Kuntz, & their daughter Angelique Michelle Kuntz.

Services were held at Pee Wee Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church.
