Evelyn M. Fabisiak, 98, of Stevens Point, passed away on April, 14, 2015, at Care Partners Assisted Living. She had been residing at Care Partners since 2009 and had been living with the effects of Alzheimer's for 11 years.

She was born on Sep. 8, 1916, in Polonia, the daughter of the late Walter and Teckla (Wrycza) Gagas. She attended school in Polonia. Her marriage to John P. Fabisiak took place on May 18, 1937, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. The couple lived in the town of New Hope, in Manawa, and then settled in Stevens Point in 1944. Her husband John preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1987, after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary of the same year.

Evelyn was employed at Weber Tackle Company and was a waitress at the Point Cafe and F.W. Woolworth Company. After retiring, she was a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, working as a clerk at the Holly Shoppe and as hostess at the noon lunch program at the Lincoln Center for over 25 years. She also volunteered at the Stevens Point Police Fines Department for over 15 years. She enjoyed traveling, church picnics, playing bingo, embroidering dish towels, needlework, word search puzzles and also enjoyed eating out, especially breakfast at the Wooden Chair.

She was a 50+ year member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Rosary Society and is presently a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Evelyn was very proud of her Polish-Catholic heritage and attended Mass daily until she was unable to do so, seldom without wearing an "Angel Pin." In 1980, she was part of a group who traveled to Rome, Italy, to meet with and have their photo taken with Pope John Paul II, who is now Saint John Paul II. She was an exemplary Christian woman who shared her time, talents and treasures and was always there for those in need. She will be greatly missed.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Maryann Konieczki, Donald (Mary Ann) Fabisiak and Pat (Dave) Barnsdale all of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Ella Konieczki, Christine Konieczki, Sharon (Ralph) Laska, Mark Konieczki, Kim Sitero, Keith, Gary (Jodi), Peter and Dan (Kelly) Fabisiak and Joyce (Mark) Chadderdon; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren (and three on the way); sister, Ramona Lilla; sisters-in-law, Florence Gagas, Evelyn Fabisiak, Adeline Fabisiak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rhody Konieczki; great-grandson, Leon Williams; great-granddaughter, Christina Fabisiak; brothers, John, Frank, Edwin, Walter and Chester; and sisters, Veronica Hintz, Agnes Dudzik, Belvina Michelkamp, Angeline Pionkowski, Laura Kielpinski and Eugenia "Jean" Herek-Studinski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Catholic Church, the Lincoln Center, or the Alzheimer's Association of Wisconsin.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Polonia.
