Following her graduation from high school she attended business college in Bismarck, ND. She then worked in Watertown, SD at the McFarland Law Firm. From there she moved to Pierre where she was employed by the State of South Dakota. In Pierre she met and married Burcine Oldham Koehne. During World War II they moved to San Diego, CA.
Following the war, Dolores and Burcine moved to Aberdeen, SD where she worked for the IRS for 20 years. Dolores received many awards and recognitions for her work in government. After their retirement they moved to Mesa, AZ. In 1978 they moved to Salinas, CA to be near family. Dolores enjoyed spending time cooking, gardening, and traveling with Burcine.
Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Dr. William (Judy) Koehne, Salinas, CA; three granddaughters, Shannon (Adam) Hancock, Woodland, CA, twins, Jessica Koehne, San Francisco, CA, Amanda Koehne, Davis, CA; two great grandchildren, Leilani Hancock and Hendrix Hancock, both of Woodland, CA.
In addition to her husband and her parents, a sister, Helen Whalen, preceded Dolores in death.
