"MOUND CITY, Mo.-Franklin D. George, 64, Mound City, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at a Kansas City Hospital following a year long illness.

Mr. George had been semi-retired from being self-employed at George's C-Store in Mound City. He also had owned and operated a service station in Kansas City for 10 years and had been associated with ADT Alarm Systems. Mr. George had served in the Air Force.

Born in Gower, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1935, he had lived in Kansas City and had resided in Mound City sinc 1978.

Mr. George was a member of the Open Door Ministries of Northwest Missouri.

On Dec. 30, 1977, he married Caroline J. Markt in Kansas City. She survives of the home.

Mr. George was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Sarah.

Additional survivors: a daughter, Janel Tait, Kansas City; a son, Shane, Mound City; a stepdaughter, Paula M. Fuller, Forest City, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Currans, St. Joseph, and Ruth Kellogg, Kansas City; four brothers, John, Vernon and Harry, all of St. Joseph, and Herb, Deep Water, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph, Mo.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Visitation: after 10 a.m. today, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight."
