"Caroline Jean George, 69, Forest City, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 14, 2008.

She was born December 21, 1938 in Oregon, the daughter of Merrille Phillip and Verlene LaVon (Griffey) Markt.

Caroline graduated from Oregon High School in 1956. She married LaVerne Scroggins and they became the parents of a daughter. They later divorced in 1977 and she married Frank George. She and Frank owned service station in Kansas City, and George's Apco in Mound City.

Caroline was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. At one time she worked at the Holt County Courthouse.

Mrs. George was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Frank.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Dave Fuller, Forest City; four sisters, Brenda Clemens, Richmond; Teresa Brendle, Oregon, Rosa Matthews, Forest City and Becky Dunlap, Agency; stepson, Shane George, Mound City; step-daughter, Janel Tait, Kansas City; grandson, Bryon Fuller; four step-grandchildren: and four step great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at Chamberlain Funeral Home with Chaplain Floyd Ferguson officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery."
