Originally Wanton's memorial on this site had been transcribed with his daughter Sarah's death information as "died Au 25 1835". The name was changed to Sarah in 2015 and no new information was available for Wanton, for whom I had added this new memorial.
The correct information from L Mathew is:
"Wanton Nichols died in 1840. He made his will 14 Feb. 1840 (Herkimer Co. Probate Recs., F:495-496) and it was probated in May of that year. Two grandsons of whom he was guardian had new guardians named on 2 March 1840 because Wanton had died (Herkimer Probate Recs., F:494)."
So the death date range is between 02/14/1840 and 03/02/1840. This cemetery is not in good condition and no one has actually recovered Wanton's stone, but it is known that he was buried here in the family farm.
