Harold was born August 7, 1932, on the family farm southeast of Redfield, to James and Olive (Emory) Booze. He attended rural school and Redfield High School. Harold served in the United States Army for two years before returning to farm with his parents. Harold married Joan Einspahr on July 9, 1953 in Redfield. They farmed and raised their family on the same farm he grew up on. Farming was Harold’s life and he won many soil conservation awards in Hand County.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and was a past member of the South Dakota Wheat Growers.
Harold enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandchildren. He always had his beloved dog “Molly” with him wherever he went.
Harold is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Joan; his children: Deena (Robert) Bruening of Tulare; Leslie (and special friend Patty Ewing) Booze of Parkston, SD; Tim (Willette) Booze of Redfield; and Cyndi (Mike) Miller of Aberdeen; his grandchildren: Craig (Trish) Bruening, Bryan (fianc? Stacey Wismer) Bruening, Jackie (Jason) Lee, Zachary Booze, Rachel (Lance) Fliehe, Jennifer Miller and Cory Miller and his great grandchildren: Braden, Brielle and Brycen Bruening, JD Lee, Haiden Fliehe and Tenley Bruening. He is also survived by his sisters: Evie Grayson, Carol (Jerry) Jessen, Grace Pengilly, Patty (Jack) Weiss and Shirley (Ken) Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Wesley, Duane, Raymond and Bob and two sisters: Kathryn and Jean.
