He was born December 2, 1945 in Harrisonburg, VA and was the son of Clarence William (Jim) Long, Sr. and Frances Mullen Long.
Mr. Long was past owner of Long Paving, Inc., Long Eggs Inc., Virginia Dehydrating Inc., and Long Excavating. He was past owner and manager of Franwood Farms, Inc., President and Director of the Virginia Turkey Association in 1974, and Member of the Virginia Egg Board.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Sandra Painter Long; a daughter, Carissa M. Long of Bridgewater; and a son, William Brent Long of New Market; four grandchildren, Paige, Anna, Ryan and Nichalas Johns; three brothers, Allan Long and wife Nancy, Larry Long and wife Carolyn, and Stephen Long and wife Sadonna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m. at the church by Pastor Jeffrey Sonafelt.
