BURK, William H. "Hoby" - Age 89, of Flint, passed away Friday, April 25, 2003 as the result of an auto accident.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at 11AM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw, Grand Blanc, Pastor James D. Weist officiating.

Burial with military graveside honors will be rendered by VFW Post #4087 of Davison, will be at Meadow View Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive visitors on Sunday from 4-8pm, on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8PM, and on Tuesday from 10AM until time of the service.

William was born April 26, 1913 in Cotton Plant, MO to Joe and Edith ( Fike ) Burk.

He married Rosanna "Rosie" Primeau on October 21, 1949 in Napoleon, OH and he was devoted to her for 47 years until her death in 1996.

He was an auto mechanic who spent 33 years at the Truck Assembly Plant. William was a staunch Republican. He loved mechanical things and to help his grandchildren with their cars.

William was a World War II Veteran.

He obtained the Rank of Sergeant and saw combat service overseas in North Africa, Italy, Austria and Germany as a member of the 776th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Reconnaisance Company. He spent 550 days in combat and was awarded a Bronze Star for Valor in Mieno, Italy.


William is survived by, 2 daughters, Janet (Kevin) Spangler, Joyce (Clyde) Webb, both of Flint. 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Newman , Chad Newman , Brandon Spangler, Clyde (Jennifer) Webb Jr. and Calvin (Jennifer) Webb; 1 great-granddaughter, Emma Newman ; sisters, Frieda Farrell, Mary Branum, and Betty (Homer) Maxwell; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie; sisters; Lucille Burgess, Juanita Branum and Dorothy Tinnin and; 3 brothers, Edward Burk, Ben Burk, and Guy Burk.
