Shadrack Callaway was the son of Thomas Callaway Jr., son of Captain Thomas Callaway, son of Joseph Callaway, born c. 1788 in North Carolina. His siblings included sister Frances, who married Jesse Bartlett and went to live in what was to become the Republic of Texas, John Farrar and Rebecca who settled in Missouri, Thomas F. who stayed in North Carolina, and James Marshall, Mary and Joseph Woodson who eventually settled in Knoxville, Tennessee along with brother Shadrack. He married Mary Polly Councill, probably before 1812, in North Carolina.
His will, written 1 Aug 1835, lists his children:Caroline Cox (husband Thomas B, Cox),Rebecca Morris(husband James H. Morris), "Beloved wife Mary", sons:Thomas F.,JAMES S.,Joseph W., John L.A.,and Judith who married Adam Hodges.-Allie Nelson
