A native of Spartanburg County, he was the husband of Avilda (Ezell) Henderson and a son of the late John B. and Mamie (Simmons) Henderson.
He was the retired owner of Henderson Ford, a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church for over 40 years, served as a deacon, member of the choir, and the Scott Jolley Sunday School Class.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Willingham of Fairforest and Lizzie Hughey of Chesnee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Dianne Winkler Anderson, Deborah Wallace of Columbus, NC, Dawn Henderson of Chesnee; two sisters, Julia Sevenhuysen of Hendersonville, NC, Fannie Allen of Royal Palm Beach, FL; two brothers, Hollis and Harold Henderson both of Chesnee; seven grandchildren, Amanda Henderson, Chad Wallace, Amy Wallace, Elisabeth Wallace, Cortlin Shields, Caroline Shields, and Carmen Keeney.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Chesnee First Baptist Church with Dr. Herbert Garrett and Dr. Troy Gregg officiating. Burial followed in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Cortlin Shields, Chadwick Wallace, Jim Hart, Jay Cash, Jeff Elmore, Harold Mathis and Jon Godfrey.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Chesnee First Baptist Church and members of the Scott Jolley Sunday School Class.
