Dakota, Ill., June 5 – John F. Meyer, 91, Dakota's oldest resident, died Sunday at 4 p.m. in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lucille Dixon, 1204 South Walnut avenue, Freeport. He has been ill for some time. Born Nov. 21, 1858, in Rock Run township, he was the son of Daniel and Matilda Meyer. In 1894 he was married to Miss Anna Holsapple, who died in 1928. Mr. Meyer taught school for a number of years in South Dakota, returning to operate the home farm near Dakota. He moved to Dakota in 1929.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dixon and Mrs. Audrey Sanders of Freeport and Miss Evelyn Meyer of Dakota; two sons, Harper of Polo and Russell of Rochelle; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and five sisters died previously. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:45 p.m. in the Myers funeral home, Dakota, and at 2 p.m. in the Dakota Methodist church. Rev. J. M. Beck, pastor of the Elizabeth Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be in Dakota cemetery.
