MEYER – February 18th, 1875, Peter, son of Daniel and Matilda Meyer, aged 13 years, 10 months and 9 days. Peter died as the christian dies, because he fully trusted in the christian's God. During two long years of most intense suffering he astonished all by his patience and endurance. His faith in his Redeemer was unshaken to the last. His last hours were hours of holy triumph. His last words were: "Mother, mother, soon I have overcome. Hallelujah, hallelujah!" The funeral services were held on the 20th, conducted by the Rev. J. M. Conlee, of Dakota. A large concourse of relatives and friends of the family were present. The afflicted father and mother have many friends to sympathize with them in their sorrows.

Obituary published in the February 24, 1875 issue of the Freeport Journal (Illinois).
