Andrew Marshall, oldest son of John Marshall (ca. 1761-1806) and Catharina Truby Rohrer (ca. 1763-1806), drowned in the Ohio River south of Wheeling [West] Virginia, in January or February 1832. Existing records seem to indicate that his body never was recovered for burial. Ohio County, (West) Virginia probate records for the Marshalls seem to indicate that their home in Wheeling was swept away by the Great Flood of February 1832.

Andrew was named for his paternal grandfather, Andrew Marshall (d. 1789) of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. His maternal grandfather was Col. Christopher Truby.
