He was born in Wayne County on November 28, 1905, the son of John Lewis and Alice Brown Brumley, both deceased.
He married the former Ella Hart at Jamestown, Tennessee, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include 14 children, Ive Dean Cooper, Gene A. Brumley, James Brumley, Henry Brumley and Lucille Purcell, all of Somerset, John W. Brumley, Jr., Mary Mitchell, Betty Gleason, Glen Brumley, Wanda Wallace, Roy Brumley, William Brumley, and Loyd Brumley, all of Cincinnati, and Ella Mae Jasper of Nancy; three brothers, Leland C. Brumley and A.W. "Dugon" Brumley, both of Somerset, and Harmon Brumley of Cleveland, Tennessee; four sisters, Lola Burton of Somerset, Sara Curtis of Spartenburg, Tennessee, Arbell Webb of Charleston, South Carolina, and Mae Godby of Spencer, North Carolina; 34 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He moved from Somerset to Cincinnati and was a retired painter, and a member of the Lockland Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company with Rev. Ray Payne and Rev. D.D. Creasy officiating.
Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Somerset Undertaking Company chapel.
