Hugh Lawson, 84, of Kingsport, died Sunday at Holston Valley Community Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

He was born in Eidson and had lived in this area most of his life. Lawson was a member of the Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army, and a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Falin Lawson, Kingsport; four daughters, Miss Lois Lawson, Miss Pauline Lawson, and Mrs. Wilma Giller, all of the home, and Mrs. Elwood (Shelby) Hodges, Church Hill; two sons, William Ralph Lawson, Church Hill, and Carroll Rufus Lawson, Decherd, TN; one brother, Jess Lawson, Rogersville; two half-sisters, Mrs. Della Robison, Turk, PA, and Mrs. Madge Berry, Granite Falls, NC; one half-brother, Ollie Lawson, Rogersville; seven grandsons.

Funeral services were help on Wednesday afternoon from the Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Gerald Hopkins and Elder Eckel Head officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
