Careta (pronounced Creta) was born May 3, 1910 possibly in Gifford, Idaho to Charles Nelson Litchfield (1879-1966) and Missouri Belle (aka Belle) Yardley Litchfield (1882-1955). She was one of 9 children including older siblings, James Ira Litchfield (1900-1929), Grace Litchfield Hewitt (1904-?), Neil George Litchfield (1905-1979) and younger siblings, Charles Nelson Litchfield Jr. (1912-1974), Amelia (Midge) Litchfield McDowell (1914-1932), Harlan K. Litchfield (1916-1987), Leland (Litch) Leroy Litchfield (1920-2002) and Orval Bruce Litchfield (1922-1923).

She only attended school until the 8th grade and married Charles Eugene (Chuck) Aldrich at the age of 15 on Sept. 21, 1925 at Lewiston, Idaho. Chuck was 19 at the time of the marriage. He was born Mar 10, 1906 to parents Nephi Aldrich (1872-1928) and Elitha Minerva Sills (1883-1970). Chuck was the 2nd of 6 children born to Nephi and Elitha. His older brother is George Elmer Aldrich (1903-1983) and his other siblings include Haines, Mabel, Lili and Maude.

Chuck and Careta had 3 sons, Donald, Robert Eugene (1931-2008) and Jack Leroy (1932-1979). Chuck had odd jobs to support the family so they moved around Idaho. He went to correspondent school and obtained his engineering license. He became employed by the state of Idaho transportation department. When he first started working for the state they lived in Pocatello, Idaho and later moving to Boise, Idaho where he worked until he retired. After retiring they moved back to the homestead 606 Lapwai Road, which they bought in the 1930s. The homestead was 3 acres of land on which they had fruit trees, a barn, a chicken coop and a creek running through it. They always felt this was home even when they lived in other cities so upon Chuck's retirement they moved back there.

Chuck died of prostate cancer Sept 6, 1973 and is buried in Lewiston, Idaho at Normal Hill Cemetery. Careta never re-married and lived in the homestead until her death on Aug 23, 1983. She was buried right next to Chuck and her parents as well as her son Jack. Son Don's wife June is also buried next to Careta and Chuck.

At the time of Careta's death she was survived by 2 sons Robert (Bob) and Don (son Jack preceded her passing away in 1979), 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. As of 2014 she has 7 grandchildren including Bob's children Kathy Aldrich Rogers and Daniel Aldrich; Jack's children, Patricia Aldrich Musselman; Jack Lee Aldrich Jr., and Don's sons, Ron, Steve and Bruce; approximately 15 great-grandchildren (including c/o author of this bio Angie Raspone) and multiple great-great grandchildren (including the children of Angie Raspone who are Lilia Aldrich and Logan Denton).

She was an avid reader and loved the romantic genre. She also loved to sew and play cards.

Granddaughter Kathy's favorite memories include shopping with her when she was a young girl and sitting and talking together. Kathy got her prom dress (a red velvet dress) from a cousin and together with Careta they remade it adding fuchsia silk cuffs and a ribbon of floral embroidery around the waist to make it an empire waist.

Great-Granddaughter Angie's favorite memories of Careta:
She tried to teach me how to shuffle card but I could never get it right. She also made me grilled cheese sandwiches and would cut the crust off. She told me "crust is bad" so for years I refused to eat crust on bread. To this day every time I have bread I smile at that memory.
