Mr. Pickens was born on April 30, 1921, in Big Wells. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beeville. He was a World War II Navy veteran, stationed in Hawaii for four years. He was a football official for many years in the 1A division. Mr. Pickens was a past president of the Lumbermen's Association, and was retired from Corpus Christi Brick and Lumber, as well as Zarsky Lumber Co.
Visitation was scheduled to be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday at Seaside Funeral Home's Reid Chapel. Funeral services followed at 1 p.m. in the same location. Entombment was to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
