JAMES A. VITALE, age 88 of Canton passed away early Tuesday morning. Born in Canton to the late Leone and Francesca (Pidalo) Vitale he was preceded in death by sisters Rose Vitale, Frances Barbara, Josephine DiCola, Clara Purses, Jennie Norcia, Mary Marsh, Vickie Vitale, brothers Leo and Joseph Vitale. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School and a WW II veteran serving in the Coast Guard. He was co-owner of Vitale Brothers, Inc. He was a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Parish, McKinley Eagles, Moose Lodge and a Charter member of the Canton Ex-Newsboys. He is survived by his wife Cleo M. (McMillen) Vitale, daughter and son-in-law Fran and Bob Figurella, son and daughter-in-law Lee and Missey Vitale, five grandchildren Matt (Diana) Franta, Jennifer Franta, Angie (Dan) Conley, Katie (Andy) Lloyd, Julia Vitale, five great-grandchildren Sofie and Hannah Conley, Layla and Farrah Lloyd, Jimmy Franta, brother Anthony Vitale, brothers-in-law Sam Purses, James Marsh and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12 noon at St. Anthony/All Saints Parish with Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop, celebrant. The funeral procession will form at church Friday. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canton Ex-Newsboys or St. Antony/All Saints Parish.
