Rites held Tuesday for Edgar Thomazin

Services were Tuesday morning at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa for Edgar Thomazin, 82, of Genoa, who died Aug 5 at the Genoa Community Hospital.

Burial with Masonic graveside services by Mount Nebo Lodge No. 125, A. F. & A.M. was in the Valley View Cemetery.

The Rev. Thomas Holcombe officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Eugene Cromwell, organist, and Mrs. Harold Clausen, soloist.

Casketbearers were Leon Anderson, Otto Mohr, Perry Chana, Clifford Peterson, George Heft and Norman Rood.

The Hasch-Patrick Funeral Chapel of Genoa was in charge.

Born June 18, 1902 in Joliet Township, Platte County, he was the son of William and Mathildan [sic] (Born) Thomazin. He attended District 64 school in Platte County. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Bethany Lutheran Church south of Lindsay.

He married Hazel Busselman in 1924 at Newman Grove.

After farming for many years south of Lindsay, they moved to Genoa in 1937 where Mr. Thomazin was employed by Loup Power District for five years.

Later he was manager of the Farmers Store for 25 years, retiring in November 1966.

A member of Augustana Lutheran Church, he served on the board of directors of the Genoa Community Hospital for 13 years and was a member of the Genoa cemetery board. He was affiliated with the Mt. Nebo Masonic lodge.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Eldin (Norma) Berlin of Genoa and Mrs. Carl (Joyce) Hansen of Lincoln; three grandchildren; one great grandson; and sisters, Mrs. John (LaVerna) Reeg and Mrs. Ferd (Odetta) Pearson, both of Genoa, and Mrs. Oscar (Charlotte) Christensen of Geneseo, Ill.

Memorials have been directed to the Senior Citizens or Augustana Lutheran Church.
