Herald Coaster, August 6, 1999:

Funeral services for Edward J. "Bumpty" Charanza, 51, of Needville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father James Ramsey will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Boulevard, FM 2218 and Highway 59 in Rosenberg. Deacon Don Ries will conduct a rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Kevin Charanza, Darryl Kovar, Patrick Charanza, Anthony Charanza, Ernie Natho, Dean Hurta, Simon Charanza Jr., Larry Witek Sr., and Ray Witek Jr.

Edward was born Feb. 5, 1948 in East Bernard to Frank Charanza and Rosie Borecky Charanza, and he passed away Aug. 4, 1999 in Richmond. He was employed with Texas Bolt Company in Houston for over 27 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosie Charanza, and his brothers, Frankie and Paul Charanza.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sharon J. Byard Charanza of Needville; his daughter, Tammy Lehman and her husband, Russell, of Needville; a grandson, Colton Lehman of Needville; his sisters, Mary Ann Hurta of Richmond and Lilly Mae Witek of Beasley; his brother, Simon Charanza Sr. and his wife, Clara, of Needville; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville.
