Ira "Dude" W. Bennett, age 65, passed away Thursday evening, February 12, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Carthage.
Ira was born December 18, 1949 to the late Avil R. and Laverne (Stevens) Bennett. He married Edwina "Eddie" Rowe on August 20, 1988. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2013 after 25 devoted years of marriage.
Ira spent a lot of his time delivering feed for farmers, working on various farms and raising chickens. He also enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors and bird watching. Ira loved to spend time with his grandchildren and always tried to make those around him laugh. Christmas was Ira's favorite time of year because he enjoyed decorating his home for the season.
Ira is survived by his daughters: Angeleak (James) Abner of Greenfield and Shonda Bennett; son: Ira "Bubba" Bennett of Indianapolis; step-children Marsha (Kim) Darby of Shelbyville; LeeAnn (Scott) Denney of New Castle, Mark Rowe of Dayton, OH and Max Rowe of Rushville; grandchildren: Danielle (Matt) Warner, Jason Jacobs, Christian Abner, and Cooper Dykes; step grandchildren: Tiffany Darby, Malcolm Denney, Brooke Rowe, Taylor Rowe, Savannah Rowe, Mark Rowe and Chad Rowe; and great-grand children: Colton Warner, Alexis Denney, Ashley Denney, Elijah Denney, Aubrianna Denney, and Junior Rowe; siblings: Avery "Jay" (Bonnie) Bennett of Bedford, Vilis L. Richardson of Franklin, Arvin L. (Maryland) Bennett of Noblesville and Velma Crowe of Bargersville.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Edwina; and siblings: Merittia Kinnard and Rubylean Bennett.
The Rev. Avert "Jay" Bennett will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 18th 2015 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
