Opal Ruth White was born
the daughter of Elmer and
Stacy (Cardinal) White on January
16, 1917 in Toledo, Ill. She
received her education from
both Minnesota and Iowa
country schools.
Opal was united in marriage
to Forest Forsyth; to this union
two children were born: Lois
and Ronald. In 1942 she married
Melvin Witzke. After his
death Opal was married for 32
years to Paul Fitchett. Mr.
Fitchett died in 1978 and in
1983 she was married to Harold
Irwin.
In 1945 Opal was baptized
and joined the Methodist
Church in Newell where she
became active in many different
church circles.
Opal worked 30 years for the
DeKalb Seed Corn in Storm
Lake, 20 years at the canning
factory and two years for Good
Samaritan Center in Newell.
She is survived by her
daughter, Lois Johnson,
Spencer, Donna Wilber and her
husband Gaylen, Bolivar, Mo.;
six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren;
three great-great-
grandchildren; and four
sisters: Vivian Berg, Boone, Violet
Kuhn, Storm Lake, Marjorie
Gehrke, Hampton, and Bonnie
and Charlie Witter, Newell; and
sister-in-law, Martha White,
Newell.
