Elmer, the son of James
Cornelious White and Anna
May Howard, was born on
Nov. 4, 1894, in Toledo, Ill. On
April 12, 1914, he was united in
marriage to Stacy May
Cardinal in Toledo, Ill. To this
union were born six daughters
and one son.

Elmer was affiliated with
the United Methodist Church.

He and his family moved to
Newell in 1929.
Elmer spent 42 years on an
acreage on the northeast edge
of Newell. He farmed for 15
years on a farm owned by
George M. Allee. Upon moving
to town he worked for Mr.
McCormick and later with
George Thomas before retiring.

Survivors include his wife,
Stacy; six daughters, Mrs.
Amy Lenz of Early, Mrs.
Harold (Opal) Irwin of Sac
City, Mrs. Leslie (Vivian) Berg
of Albert City; Mrs. Earl
(Violet) Kuhn of Storm Lake,
Mrs. Cleo (Marjorie) Gehrke of
Iowa Falls and Mrs. Charles
(Bonnie) Witter of Newell; one
son, Elmer Lyle White of
Newell; eight grandsons; 11
granddaughters; 41 greatgrandchildren;
nine greatgreat-grandchildren;
two halfbrothers, Ralph and Victor of
Peoria, Ill.; numerous nieces
and nephews and many
friends.

Elmer was preceded in
death by two brothers, Paul
and Ora White; one sister,
Elsie; one grandson, Robert
Bartels; one great-granddaughter,
Becky James; and
five sons-in-law.
