Mrs. Beauford stated that her husband, who was on the front porch, called to her to bring the gun. As she came through the front door with the gun held in her hand, it was discharged in some way, the charge entering her husband's back just below the left shoulder.

A.C. Hales, Joe Bishop and J.C. Carrell, Hereford officers, were called to the scene, and immediately communicated with Castro county officials at Dimmitt. Up to noon the inquest had not been held.

Beauford is survived by his wife and one daughter. The latter was upstairs in the residence at the time of the tragedy.
