Bio

Curious about the headstone on my Profile Page? To read about him, Click Here for Richard Dwain Coggin. He is my oldest brother who was a coach in Idalou, Texas and he and his passenger, the High School Football Head coach were killed instantly in a wreck. It left the small town devastated and resulted in the name of the football stadium being changed to the name of the coach. I hope you will leave flowers for him when you do read his memorial.

Please note that I am having trouble adding captions to my photos. I just discovered that they are not being added even though I have added my sources to them. I have contacted Findagrave about what to do. One more problem with the crossover to the new Findagrave. I hope they get the bugs ironed out. If you find a photo that is missing the source or any other info, you can count on it being a problem with findagrave and not me. I apologize for any missing info. All my death certificates come from Ancestry.com and I always added it to them but they are not showing up

I recently finished walking the three local cemeteries in town and 3 others in surrounding towns. At present, I am now walking another cemetery that is about 40 miles away. I would encourage anyone who is able, to walk your local cemetery and photograph each and everyone of the visible headstones. It is amazing the history in those cemeteries when you research the individuals there. Your old High School Annuals are full of info about the person and they turn into a real person when you can add some tidbits about the person to their memorials.

I have only been interested in genealogy the last three years and I am still curious about how they died and thanks to Ancestry, I am usually able to find out and I do post on my memorials why and I also post death certificates. I know that if I found out that someone had info on my family and didn't post it, I would be so disappointed. When I found Findagrave 13 years ago, I added my brother to it and did nothing else with it and now I am so hooked on it that I can't get enough of adding folks from years gone by. I love seeing a name from the 1800's and I will research it til there is nothing left to research about it.

My personal family searches include Coggin, Matthews, Kenyon, Adams, Dillard, Russell, Bush, Leist, Mitchell, Dillard and Boling.

If you see your family and you want me to transfer a memorial to you, I will be glad to do it except for those that are my family. I will not transfer anyone who is kin to me even as a distant cousin. I do not like transferring people that I am sponsoring because that means that I put in money and lots of time on that memorial. I am having more requests than usual asking me to transfer someone who is not your relative. I do not want you to ask me to transfer someone that is not your relative as I put time in on my memorials and most are me doing the research on them and I am researching many people from the 1800's and trying to add details about them that someone might not ever know about them. I am not your average "numbers only is what counts person" on FAG. I am about remembering a person. So, please do not ask for a transfer if you are not a relative. I always do make exceptions to the rule though, but I have to hear your reason for wanting a transfer if you are not a relative.

I want to make a note here that I try very hard to not duplicate memorials and if you find I have duplicated one that you created before me, I cheerfully remove it. I will even transfer to you what information I have on my memorial. Please do not ask me to delete a memorial that I created before you did. Check the dates on the duplicates as the one who posted first has precedence. Also, please treat me with respect because I make mistakes just like everyone else and I never duplicate memorials on purpose.

Feel free to use my pictures if you feel the need for them. Please do not take the pictures that have not been taken by me personally as I have no say so about those. This includes, those photos that I have posted prior to 1923 which should be in the public domain. They are still not my photos and I would not want any problems with copyright on anything. To be safe, you should just ask me about something before you "borrow" it.
