Mary Jane was Baptized on February 6. Some of their children were also baptized as follows: Nancy Ellen Gordon (b. 18 February 1868) - Baptized 1 March 1882; John B. Gordon (b. 1 August 1870) Baptized 2 March 1882; Sarah Emaline Gordon (b. 2 May 1873) Baptized 1 October 1882; Mitchel Ann Gordon (b. 30 April 1876) Baptized 10 September 1884; Horace Alexander Gordon (b. 7 June 1879) Baptized as adult. After they were Baptized when they were persecuted for their Mormon religion.
They were chased by mobs and hid out in the woods for three days until they could take the train from Spartanburg, SC, to Utah. Later moved to New Mexico.
