"James SPILMAN died 8 May 1884 at Fort Donaldson, Scotland Co., Missouri, and is buried at Fort Donaldson Cemetery. "This cemetery is located in a sparsely settled part of Scotland County. It is about eight miles south of Memphis, about a quarter of a mile west of Missouri primary road 15 on an unmarked gravel road. The nearest community is Bible Grove about six miles farther west on Missouri secondary road 'T'. The cemetery is located about 100 yards off the gravel road, previously mentioned and to reach it we had to wade through belt high tall grass and weeds. The marker reads 'JAMES B. SPILMAN, DIED APRIL 17, 1873, AGE 62 YEARS, 4 MONTHS, 15 DAYS.'" -
