Harvey SPILMAN (1807-1887), age 79 years, died 31 May 1887 at his home at 2818 - 18th Av. S., Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota of "Dropsy Fibrinous." The undertaker was Warner. He was buried first at Layman's Cemetery in Minneapolis and later his remains were moved to Lakewood Cemetery.
[According to their death certificates, Harvey and Mary (Mason) SPILMAN were originally buried at Laymans Cemetery otherwise known as Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery on Lake Street near Hiawatha Ave in Minneapolis. When Lake Street was widened in May 1913 their bodies were moved and reinterred at Lakewood Cemetery Section 11, Lot 1063. It appears that a large monument that hsd marked their original gravesite, had been dismantled, and portions of it were buried flat on the ground at Lakewood. - W. L. DeCoursey.]
