SHELBY Mrs. Ethel Elizabeth Sam Allison Barrett, 53, of 124 Lear St., Shelby, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at home.

A native of Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late William Hicks and Mattie Mae Haney Allison and wife of the late Marvin Barrett.

She was a member of First Wesleyan Church and a creeling operator at Dicey Fabrics.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Barbara Humphries of Blacksburg, S.C.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cara and Tim Ervin of Shelby and Abby Beaty of Grover; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Susan Allison of Gaffney, S.C., and Ray and Jill Allison of Grover; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Isaac Walker of Shelby and Ann and Mike Lovelace of Forest City; two granddaughters, Alyson and Chelsie Humphries of Blacksburg; and three grandsons, Bryson and T.J. Ervin of Shelby and Ryan Oliver of Grover.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Cleveland Funeral Services from 6 to 8 tonight and at other times at 229-1 Runyar Road in Grover.
