The death occurred at her home in Detroit on Saturday, May 26th, of Mrs. Leon R. Hutchings at the age of 58 years, following a lengthy illness. The late Mrs. Hutching was the former Mary Laschinger, and was born at New Hamburg, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Laschinger. Her father was postmaster of New Hamburg for many years. Before her marriage in 1918 to Mr. Hutchings, she assisted her father at the post office and was well known to the citizens of the village. She had many friends here who deeply regret her passing. For the past 25 years she and her husband resided in Detroit.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Mildred) Heidrick, Detroit; two grandchildren; three brothers, Russell and Elmer Laschinger of Gilmer, Texas, and Ewart Laschinger, Kingston; four sisters, Mrs. (Dr.) S. C. Shantz, Kitchener; Mrs. Sylvester Krampien, R.R. 1, Wellesley; Mrs. Elmer McIntyre, Haysville, and Mrs. Ben Pollock of Seveirville, Tenn.
The funeral service was held at the Lockhart Funeral Home at Mitchell, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. M. A. Hunt of Trinity Anglican Church officiated, and interment was made in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Mitchell.
