Mrs. George W. Roberts, a noble Christian woman, died this morning at 6:30 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daniel Evans, on St. James Street. She was a sufferer of asthma and heart disease, having been in poor health since last February. Two weeks ago today she returned from Bay View, MI, where she had been for her health. The following Monday she was taken to the home of her daughter, bronchial trouble developing about a week ago.

Mrs. Roberts was 76 years of age last January 20, and was born in the old Knowles homestead, near Kirkpatrick, having been a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Knowles. She was the last member of the family. As Jane Elizabeth Knowles, she was married to George W. Roberts in Cardington in 1862. They came to Marion 32 years ago and have since resided in the Roberts homestead, where they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 2 years ago. Of this union were born 8 daughters, 2 of whom, with the husband, survive. They are Mrs. Charles E. Anderson and Mrs. Daniel Evans.

The deceased also leaves 6 grandchildren; Miss Maude Louise McMurray and John Evans, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Evans; George and Jane Pfann, the children of Mrs. John Pfann, who was formerly Miss Ada Roberts; Miss Hazel Wells, of DE, the daughter of Mrs. Frank Wells, who was formerly Miss Metta Roberts; and Miss Mary Anderson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Anderson.

The deceased became a member of the Christian church at Kirkpatrick in young womanhood and was a loving wife and mother.

The remains will be taken to the Roberts home tomorrow afternoon. The funeral will be held from the Roberts home, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, and interment will be made in the family plot in the Marion Cemetery.
