Our mother was a courageous person who fought a brave fight. She earned her reward in heaven with Jesus. Her surviving children were with her through her final days. A homemaker, she died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at her residence in Tylertown, Miss. She was 73, a native of Iberville Parish and former longtime resident of Plaquemine. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, from 9 a.m. Thursday until religious services at 2 p.m. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Jim Wainwright, Tylertown, and Glenda and Patrick Crochet, Pierre Part; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Hilda Herrod, Santa Anna, Texas; two sisters, Lillie Bird, Braidwood, Ill., and June Derick, Baker; three brothers, Jody, Issac and Eddie Mott, all of Plaquemine; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, E.E. Herrod; her beloved son, Bobby B. Herrod; parents, Lilly Lake and Issac Mott; four sisters, Alice Kemp and Sarah, Ann and Gloria Jean Mott; two brothers, Leslie and James Mott; and a grandson, Troy E. Bolds. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Special thanks to Hospice of Forrest General in Hattisburg, Miss., the staff and nurses, and Dr. Gerard Falgoust of Plaquemine.
