PEKIN - Marie Luella Gorsage, 102, of 1540 El Camino Drive passed away at 6:25 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at Pekin Manor.
Born March 11, 1905, in Paton, Iowa, to John and Frederika (Groteguth) Morgenthaler, she married Jesse Daniel Gorsage on June 19, 1926, in Pekin. He died October 15, 1966, in Pekin.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Marie Gorsage and Marilyn Gorsage; two sisters and several half-brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Velma Mae "Peg" Gorsage of Pekin; one sister, Helen E. Clauson of Toulon, and several nieces and nephews.
In earlier years, Marie worked as a telephone operator in Delavan and later in Pekin.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she was a member and former secretary of the Friendship Club. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Rachel-Sarah Circle at the church.
Marie was a life member of the Celestial City Chapter 333 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and also one half hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
