Helen E. (Morgenthaler) Clauson, 107, formerly of Glasford, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Farmington Country Manor.
Helen was born Feb. 3, 1907, in Greene County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Fredericka (Groteguth) Morgenthaler. She married John A. Clauson on April 12, 1941, in Glasford. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1988, in McAllen, Texas, where they made their retirement home.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters and eight half sisters and brothers.
Soon after Helen's birth, the family homesteaded to Reliance, S.D., then later moved to Delavan, Ill., where she graduated from Delavan Community High School in 1924. She attended the University of Chicago, then graduated from Illinois State University in 1930, earning her four-year certificate. In 1936, she attended the University of Iowa, obtaining her master's degree in 1940.
Helen taught business courses at Timber Township High School in Glasford from 1944 to 1961, retiring after 28 years.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
