The Lock Haven Express, Wednesday, April 14, 1909

Edmund A. Bigler, a son of former Governor and United States Senator William Bigler, and formerly one of the leading Democrats of the state, died at his home in Clearfield on Monday the 12th after a long illness. He was 66 years old. For more than 12 years Mr. Bigler had been suffering from a form of rheumatism that rendered him helpless.

His brother, William Dock Bigler, formerly assistant United States Treasurer at Philadelphia, die about 2 years ago, and these two, with their other brother, H. F., were associated in many business enterprises, inclucing the lumber firm of William D. Bigler & Co., Bigler, Pwell & Carden, the Walnut Run and West Branch Coal companies, Clearfield, Fire Brick company, Clearfield Gas company, and several other corperations.

In 1889 Mr. Bigler was the Democratic nominee for state treasurer and was internal revenue collector for the western district of Pennsylvania during both of President Cleveland's terms. Mr. Bigler in 180?, marries Bertha Wright, dauhter of A. K. Wright, of Clearfield, and is survived by his widow, one son and three daughters.

Bigler, aged 66 years, former collector of internal revenue, Western District of Pennsylvania, under both Cleveland Administrations, died in Clearfield Monday morning after an illness of 12 years. He was a son of former Governor William Bigler and prominent in state Democratic politics form many years, being a candidate for state treasurer in 1889. His widow, one son and two daughters survive, also one brother, H. W. Bigler, all of Clearfield.
