Mrs. Remona Inez Almond, age 77, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Thursday evening, January 15, 2015. She was born October 14, 1937 in Carrollton, Georgia, the daughter of the late James Wilson Akers and the late Ozelear Mae Irvin Akers. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Nell Marshall; brothers: Homer Akers, Grover Akers, Irvin Akers, Rayford Akers and Eugene Akers. Survivors include her husband, Leonard M. Almond of Carrollton; sons and daughters-in-law: Ricky & Ruth Ann Almond of Carrollton and Jeffrey & Jaime Almond of Prince George, Virginia; sister, Opal Mae Akers of Carrollton; and two grandchildren: Jordan DeAnne Almond and Tommy Lee Almond. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Brown and Rev. Josh Agan officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM on Sunday. Those serving as pallbearers will be¬¬¬ Dr. Christopher Arant, Tommy Waters, Bob Bagby, Gary Sellers, and Ashley Sellers and James Williams. Neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Almond will be seated as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
