He married Sarah Clay on Sep 19,1771 at Rehoboth, MA.

They had no children. He was a tavernkeeper in Pawtucket Village, having moved there c1770. He is said to have sheltered Washington and Lafayette, among others. He removed to Rehoboth,MA in 1805, and he later purchased a large farm in Lyndon,VT where he was the firewarden in 1819.
